It is out of my comfort zone so that means something good will come out of it ~ Ameerah Nyakiere
As a Person with Disability, Ameerah could have chosen the path of "why me?" Instead, she founded Beautiful Minds Network& Ability Angels to provide mental health, psychosocial support&advocacy for PWD
"How old are you?" "12," she jokes, and honestly, that playful spirit mixed with fierce determination is exactly what makes Ameerah Nyakiere's story so incredibly special. Ever felt like life handed you lemons, and instead of making lemonade, you decided to start a whole beverage empire? That's Ameerah for you! As a Person with Disability (PWD), she could have chosen the path of "what if" - instead, she chose "watch me!"
Enter Beautiful Minds Network and Ability Angels, her brainchildren that are flipping the script on mental health and disability support. But here's the plot twist - this community superhero decided that wasn't enough. She looked at tech and decided,”I want to improve my time management skills and learn to leverage the various tech tools available to make work easier”."It's out of my comfort zone," she admits, "so that means something good will come out of it." (when was the last time you stepped out of yours, huh?)
Through her Beautiful Minds Network and Ability Angels (can we talk about how awesome these names are?), she's proving that sometimes the best qualifications aren't fancy degrees, but lived experiences and a heart of gold. Her take on community service, “Ethics are very rare in community service, ”ouch! But also, thank you for keeping it real, Ameerah! In an era of Instagram-perfect charity work, she's out here speaking truth to power.
Her support squad? A power trio of her daughter, her man, and her late grandma. Because behind every strong woman is... well, more strong women (and a supportive partner who probably knows better than to say "calm down" during stressful moments! Lol). But here's what makes Ameerah's story hit different - she's not pretending it's all sunshine and rainbows. Taking it "one day at a time" is her mantra, and honestly, in a world of five-year plans and "where do you see yourself" questions, that's refreshingly real!
"Your time is your most valuable asset, guard it with all you have." Coming from someone juggling disability advocacy, mental health support, and tech learning, that hits different!
So next time you're thinking "I can't" or "It's not my thing," remember Ameerah - the woman who looked at every boundary and said "Watch me cross it!"
Ready to channel your inner Ameerah? Remember: Start where you are, use what you have, and as she would say, "Just do it!"
